Polaroids from Mars

Hard at work on the second Chapter of Claviger.
While most of it takes place in bars, bedrooms, and Brooklyns a few Avalon places are introduced that become pivotal much later.
Hence all this concept stuff. The two sketches following this post were originally to be the dwelling of the Muses, but I decided it needed to be prettier so I scrapped those.

Since last session:

* Drinks: I don’t right know.
It’s been a while since I posted and I’ve been on a bit of a downward swing.

The night before last, after a Spaten Dark a group headed to Lucky 13 where we alternated between Erotic Photo Hunt, pool, and smoking cigars JB had bought us when she was in Mexico. That’s livin’.

* Read: Peanuts the Art of Chalres Schulz Edited and Designed by Chip Kidd: hhhhh Schulz work completely groundbreaking when he began drawing the strip in 1950. As most of his invovations have become common place it is easy to forget. Peanuts belabors that point, but it is one worth knowing. Any fan of sequential art should read this. Kidd's design work, as always, is a pleasure as well.

* Watched: Howl's Moving Castle hhhh The charm in Miyaazaki’s work is his abilty to surprise and delight in a child like fasion. Like some of his other best stuff, Howl's sense of wonder is evocative of and delight as, Carroll's.
* Listened to:
Sleater Kinney @ The Great American Music Hall hhh (show, not record)
While I’ve never disliked Sleater Kinney, I've found it a struggle to listen to more than a few songs in one sitting. I was more than content though to listen to them for as long as they played and was still clamoring for a second encore. All that I find grating on their records seemed charming live. I should have gone to a show early.

* Cockney Slang of the day: Didn't Ought = Port (wine) Cause proper ladies ought not to drink and would refuse in such a way when they were offered. The bitches.

RATING SCALE h Utter shite hh Don't bother hhh Average hhhh nicely done hhhhh farking brilliant
