New drinks for old drunks

Eric Bachman, Ben Gibbard, Jonathan Richman, and Mark Kozelek played a Tsunami benefit show last week.

Due to an office-packing-party workgirl and I were already drunk by the time we were standing outside the venue. Angry looking scalper dudes charging $60 for the $20 tickets kept giving me nasty looks when I would ask people for extras.
Five minutes before the show started a kid handed me a ticket. Thank you, ticket kid.

Eric played first; A lot of new tunes and a few classic Crooked Fingers, plus some covers. Jonathan Richman was bouncing around interrupting his own songs to talk to the audience.

Mark Kozelek pointed to a group of high schoolers in the front row (it was an all ages show).
"Hey when does the school bus get here. Good thing they added Jonathan to the bill so I am not the oldest person in the room. Bah,all you kids want to here is your Modest Mouse and Interpol. Your Franz-something and your Post Office."
He then played Trucker’s Atlas, Third Planet, and All-night Diner.

Ben was last. He was sporting a really fuzzy beard and had put on a lot of weight. He played both Death Cab and Postal Service tunes (including Photoboth, yayy!), and began with a cover of Web In Front. He was gushing over Eric pretty much his whole set.

Since last session:
  • Drinks: 12
  • Read: Demo issue 9 Mixtape: hhhh The best of the Demo series so far. Becky's work is really pretty. You owe it to yourself to read this Words/Brian Wood, Art/Becky Cloonan
  • Watched: Mulan, Special Edition: h What a piece of crap. If I had rembered how bad it was I would have yanked it from my Queue.
  • Listened to: Polyphonic Spree. hhh h I am obssesed with that Reach for the Sun song. I dunno why. It just happened.
  • Cockney Slang of the day: Vera Lynn (Gin)
